  • 4. Description [Abstrak] : The purpose of this study is to see how self-acceptance of parents in carrying out the functions of their role as families with children with Down syndrome. The researcher used qualitative research with a case study approach. The researcher used purposive sampling technique, namely the selection of subjects and informants in the study based on the characteristics that meet the objectives that have been set. The method of data collection is the method of in- depth interviews and observations. The results of the study can be seen that the self-acceptance of parents who have children with impaired Down syndrome development is different. The first family subjects, Ms.RI and Mr.MZ, were dominant in the aspect of having faith, because they felt that everything that happened to their child was a gift from God to his family. The second family subject, Ms.SD and Mr.RS, were dominant in the responsible aspect, because they were brave enough to take responsibility for fulfilling the needs of children, especially children who had impaired development of Down Syndrome. The third family subject Ms.SI mother was dominant in the aspect of considering himself as valuable, because he felt he had the confidence that was able to position himself as the person who played the most active role in caring for and caring for the child. And the fourth family subject Ms.EY who is dominant in positive thinking aspects, because Ms.EY always instills positive thoughts in her life during pregnancy when a child has a down syndrome development disorder. Then the self-acceptance of each parent supports the characteristics of family functioning, the results of this study can be seen that the four families of the subject as a whole are able to carry out their roles and functions as parents well.
